French midfielder Patrick Vieira was officially announced his retirement as a player, on Thursday (14 / 7) and changed into an executive role in the development of English club Manchester City.
Vieira, 35, towered his name with the French national team by winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. He's stringing four Italian league Serie A title with Inter Milan, three Premier League titles with Arsenal, and five times won the English FA Cup trophy - four with Arsenal and once with the City this year.
Now, Vieira who had played in Juventus and AC Milan, will be the focus of developing young players at Manchester City. One of the world's best defensive midfielder in his message said, "This is the end of my career as a player, but new challenges made me really enjoy."
Vieira, who recently joined City for 18 months, turned out to be an option to build the club's academy.
City are now owned by Sheikh Mansour and became one of the world's richest club, won the FA Cup last May - the first degree over the last 35 years.
