Creative Germany feel no fear

Germany's attacking prowess came in for high praise following the 6-2 win against Austria which booked their place at next summer's UEFA EURO 2012 finals.

Two Mesut Özil goals and one apiece from Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose, André Schürrle and Mario Götze earned Germany a comfortable victory and an unassailable 11-point cushion at the top of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group A. With their perfect record still intact eight games into their campaign, it is little wonder captain Philipp Lahm is so pleased with his team-mates.

"Everyone was strong when it came to attacking, we scored six goals after all," he said. "We have won every point possible so far, we have had a perfect qualification and we have maintained our level of play since the World Cup and even developed it further. We have so much creativity that we can beat anyone."

Klose, whose opener brought his international tally to 62 goals – six shy of the legendary Gerd Müller – reflected on just how much has changed in this side since he came to fame in early 2000 in a German team renowned for efficiency rather than flair. "So much has changed in the past ten years," he said.

"You don't even know the half of it, you don't see all of our training sessions; the dynamism and joy we have playing football. The coach's role in this is huge. He has developed this team and this way of playing through training. "It is the best Germany side I have ever played in, that much is for sure"."

The man credited with this transformation, Joachim Löw, is equally content. "We may not be the very best team around, but we have always been consistent in recent years and have developed our football even further since 2010," he said. "We have shown that we can beat the big teams as well."

Özil, star of the show once more, added: "I feel the trust of the team and the coach and we have come a long way. We have qualified now and it doesn't matter who scores the goals. We know we have a very strong side, but there are others that can play at our level as well."

What of the opposition on a night of such German dominance? "It felt like we were chasing the ball for 87 of the 90 minutes and we maybe had 10% possession," said Martin Harnik, scorer of Austria's second goal. "The Germans made good use of the space and the early goal we conceded didn't help either. For them, everything went well."

Germany through as Netherlands, England close in

Germany became the first team to qualify for UEFA EURO 2012 on Friday night and did so in some style against Austria while England and the Netherlands both moved a step closer to joining them with comfortable wins.

Although Turkey's last-gasp 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan meant Germany still needed a result at home to Austria to clinch first place in Group A, Joachim Löw's side cruised to a 6-2 defeat of their southern neighbours. With Belgium held 1-1 in Azerbaijan, Turkey are now strongly positioned in second place ahead of Tuesday's trip to Austria.

England have opened up a three-point lead in Group G after winning 3-0 in Bulgaria while Montenegro went down 2-1 in Wales, who had not previously registered a point. The Netherlands, meanwhile, could not have had a better day as they secured a national record 11-0 defeat of San Marino while their closest Group E rivals Sweden lost 2-1 in Hungary. Bert van Marwijk's side are six points clear of both those teams and victory in Finland on Tuesday would leave them all but qualified for Poland and Ukraine.

Things were less comfortable for Italy in their 1-0 Group C win in the Faroe Islands but Slovenia's 2-1 home reverse against Estonia allowed the Azzurri to move eight points clear. Serbia joined a tight-looking tussle for second place and are the only side who can catch Italy thanks to a 1-0 victory in Northern Ireland, fifth but only two points off second-placed Slovenia. France earned a 2-1 Group D success in Albania and are now three points clear after Belarus crashed 2-0 at home to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Also opening up a lead were Russia, who won 1-0 at home to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and are now two points ahead of both the Republic of Ireland and Slovakia following their 0-0 Group B draw in Dublin. Group F, meanwhile, looks a two-horse race between Greece, who prevailed 1-0 in Israel, and Croatia, 3-1 victors in Malta to remain within a point of the summit.

In Group H, Portugal won 4-0 in Cyprus while Norway defeated Iceland 1-0 and both are three points ahead of Denmark, who did not play and so have a game in hand. Group I leaders Spain were not in competitive action, beating Chile 3-2 in a friendly, and their nearest challengers Scotland and the Czech Republic play on Saturday. Lithuania's hopes of a play-off place were hit by a 0-0 draw with Liechtenstein.

Hamburger SV fantasy kits

Full name: Hamburger Sport-Verein e. V.
City: Hamburg
League: Bundesliga
Stadium: HSH Nordbank Arena
Fouded: 1887
Shirt sponsor: Fly Emirates
Kit manufacturer: adidas

Long time since I made the first HSV sketch, but never was satisfied with the design. Now I made one that I think suit Hamburger SV. The template was used also to make the Al Ahly kits for the Mock-ups Competition (will post it soon). The home kit has the traditional colour scheme, white shirt with red stripes and trims, red short and blue socks with black and white turnovers. This last feature is present on all versions (for socks).
An all white version for the home kit, used for games vs teams wearing dark coloured kits.
HSV uses lots of colour combinations for the second choice kit, here I chosed two versions, one with red shirt, white short and socks, and the second red shirt and socks and black short.
This away version can be used vs teams wearing all white kits.
The third kit is blue and black with white stripes all over. Suitable for games vs teams wearing red and white shirt.

Borussia Dortmund fantasy kits

Full name: Ballspiel-Verein Borussia Dortmund
City: Dortmund
League: Bundesliga
Stadium: Signal Iduna Park
Fouded: 1909
Shirt sponsor: EVONIK
Kit manufacturer: Kappa

Made this kits for Borussia based on the template used for the Pohang Steelers Competition (will post them too). The home kit is yellow and black, the traditional colours for the German team. The design is similar with the Kappa kits with the use of big logos on shoulders and sides of the shorts.
A second version for the home kit with yellow short, often used by Borussia (vs Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg, Eintracht or any other team with black or dark colour short). The colour for the away kit was inspired by the colour of the sponsors logo, combined with a darker shade of violet. The short is white, but can be used violet too.

Germany World Cup 2010 fantasy kits

Name: Germany (Deutschland)
Confederation: UEFA (Europe)
Stadium: ...
Kit manufacturer: adidas

The fourth team in my project is Germany. No need for other presentation, that's not my purpose here, the kit is based on the tamplate used on Bayern kit with litle modifications, the three stripes on the back of the shirt, the round neck and the trims (in the German flag's colours). The main kit (home) is the traditional white-black-white.
A second variant of the home kit, all white, I'm not sure if was it ever used, but I try to see how it looks.
Back to green for the away (change) kit.
A combination of the away kit with black short.
As an anticipation for a future request, I made a third red kit, colour used in the past decade as the change kit's colour. Personaly I'm a fan of the German green away kits but here is a red kit too.

F.C. Bayern München fantasy kits

Full name: Fußball-Club Bayern München e. V.
City: München
League: Bundesliga
Stadium: Allianz Arena
Fouded: 1900
Shirt sponsor: T-Mobile
Kit manufacturer: adidas

Finaly made a german team. It's obvious that I must start with F.C. Bayern München, the most known team from Germany and one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I used a new template, based on the clubs crest, round white neck and white trims, and white three stripes on the sleeves. The short has white trims on the back and the same stripes on the front like on the shirt. The socks are plain with the turnovers in the same colour, just the adidas logo on front and the stripes on the back.

The away kit is all white with red stripes, trims and neck, and the pattern on the front of the shirt is light gray. The third kit is dark blue with red trims and neckline, white stripes and blue pattern on the front of the shirt.
