Andre Santos have to increase the operating table after suffering an ankle injury in the Champions League match against Olympiakos last week and scheduled the next three months recovering.
Test results showed Santos suffered an ankle ligament injury that had to undergo surgery in his native country, Brazil. Santos led to Arsenal's injury drawback to the player at full-back position, forcing manager Arsene Wenger played a quartet of four central defenders in the back line against Everton last weekend.
"Based on the investigation and a medical opinion from a specialist, Santos had to undergo surgery to cure the damage to the ligaments in his right ankle suffered against Olympiakos," the club's official statement.
"Andrea will be operated in Brazil this week and thought to have spent three months recuperating. Everybody in the club hope he recovers soon."
