Despite being unbeaten after eight league matches, FC Metalist Kharkiv is third in the Ukrainian championship standings, a position that Myron Markevich equipment is used.
Since I finished fifth in the first season of the front bench Markevich, in 2005/06, the Metalist won bronze in the last five leagues. Although the club is eager Northeast continue to compete with FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the domestic championship, now has to contend with being a regular in European competition.
Under orders from Markevich, Metalist topped the group stage and qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Cup in 2008/09 before achieving anything like the last edition of the UEFA Europa League, when the Bayer 04 Leverkusen was eliminated in sixteenths. FK Austria Wien, AZ Alkmaar and Malmö FF are now his rivals in the complex group G of the season in European competition.
Still, Metalist is stronger than ever. While the FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk looked set to become the alternative in Ukrainian football under the leadership of former Sevilla coach Juande Ramos, Metalist seems to be the only team that can give shade to the big two. And all this in large part by the inclusion in the team of nine South American players in the last 18 months.
Jonathan Cristaldo Argentine striker was not an immediate success but the eight parties ranging from 2011/12 league has scored five goals over two in the UEFA Europa League. Most obvious is whether it is the contribution of Jose Ernesto Sosa, who participated in the two recent friendlies in Argentina. Meanwhile, Brazilian midfielder Cleiton Xavier remains a key figure next to the front Taison.
With this type of players is no surprise that the Metalist be considered as perhaps one of the most entertaining teams in Ukraine. Markevich, former coach of Ukraine is proud of Fame offensive team. "We can not play otherwise. We like to play in the field of rivals, although I admit that sometimes costs us conceding goals," he said.
This has not been a problem in Europe. Metalist defeated 0-4 at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard after a goalless draw before 38,000 spectators at the Metalist Stadium, which will host several matches of the UEFA EURO 2012 this summer. Now Markevich want to keep this aggressive philosophy: "We will try to get lucky in attack, if we allow our opponents," he said.
