Greece's UEFA EURO 2012 ambitions have been dealt a significant blow after Sotiris Ninis was ruled out for up to six months with a knee injury.
The Panathinaikos FC winger, 21, tore a cruciate ligament moments after his stunning solo strike against Israel on Friday, the only goal of the game, and will be sidelined for Greece's three remaining qualifiers. The 1-0 win in Tel Aviv maintained the 2004 European champions' one-point lead over Croatia in Group F ahead of Tuesday's trip to Latvia.
